    First Texas Mule Deer!

Finally connected with a mule deer.

Spent the past few days on the search for a muley on our lease out in Scurry/ Fisher County.

First few days saw a few on cameras, but nothing in person.

The last 2 days I go up to a real rough area on our lease and hunt a fellow lease members stand ( with permission of course).

First morning watched (2) 3x3's and 3 muley does. Also had a whitetail doe and big boar come in. Both bucks were were smaller, younger deer.

That afternoon I went back to the same spot. Took my 3 year old son with me. He loved it. He kept "seeing deer" and pointing the out to me. It was great.

We ended up seeing 3 muley does. They were bedded down 400+ yards out. No bucks. But 2 big boars came in. It was getting close to dark and with my son being there I decided to shoot them. Shot the first one at 175 yards. He rolled down into the draw. **** the second one at 240 yards. He dropped in his tracks.

Came back out to this same spot this morning by myself. And right after 7am one of the smaller 3x3's comes in. Later 2 does walk within 30 yards of me. As I was watching the 3x3 another buck slipped in from the backside of the hill. I put the gun up and saw this buck I ended up shooting. I range them and dial my scope for 240 yards and look back to where they are and they are gone!

Fortunately about 3 minutes later they reappeared in the same area. This time there were 3 bucks. Both the 3x3's and this 3x4 who was quite a bit bigger.

I set my crosshairs on the buck and the the 6.5 Grendel work.

Finally connected with a mule deer after chasing them a few years out here.

He is by no means the biggest I have seen out here, but I am happy just to finally get one.

Congrats I just got back from out there it sure is nice country. Crazy how it goes from all that farmland and just turns into those bluffs and canyon lands.

Thanks Micah. Not as nice as the one you shot though.
