Default Harvest moon

Any advice or opinions this weekend? Is it even "worth it" to sit in the stand if they are up all night feeding?!

Can't kill him from the couch.
Always catch him going back to bed they'll be up again feeding around midday

Should be a lot of deer activity between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. May want to skip the morning hunt and get to the stand about 10:30 and sit all afternoon.

I have read several studies showing moon phases have less to do with deer movement than previously thought. I'll be out there.

My experience has been you will catch them moving the first 30 minutes and again at about 10:30 to 1. It doesn't seem to effect the evening.

Deer are out now as I type this. Watching some doe feed in an easement. It's October, cool mornings, you can bet I will be in the stand!

Checked cams yesterday when I got home. There was a lot of night activity but by far the most activity I have seen on my place. New bucks showing up as well. Did have day time pics from 8-9am, 4:30pm and 6:30pm. Crazy not to be in the stand at least the mornings while it's cool out! Good luck!

Shot my buck last year the morning after a full moon. He was at the feeder around 2am and return back to the same feeder before first light and waited until it went off. I think the deer definitely move later but if they are patterned to come to a food source at a certain time I think more often then not they will hit that food source routinely.

Killed one of my better bucks during a full moon right at last light, and this was on heavily hunted public land. Just all depends on what you'd rather be doing. If I hadn't punched a tag yet I'd be in a tree.

Would be nice to hunt lunch time but i'm dreading the heat. the deer last weekend showed up around 9 to 9:15. not sure i'll be able to swing a lunch time hunt with the family at our place this weekend, but we plan on staying until Monday with the holiday so planning to get a bonus hunt in sunday evening.

Depends where your hunting. Where I am they are in full out rut chasing like crazy, so you just never know when they will move.

My dad and I are heading up anyways. Would rather sit in a tripod than on the couch. Plus something happened to my covert and the solar panel got disconnected so it's dead and I need to fix it

The only mature buck i saw last weekend was in a hurry chasing a group of does. Not sure they are all that frisky yet but none slowed down to eat, got to keep your eyes open because they may not give you too many shot opportunities. I'm sure i'll be distracted by the aggie game for evening hunt!
