Just south of Clayton and we have bear, lot of bear, so many bear they tear up what that don't crap on, but just like a lot of other places, they disappear after the acorns start to fall.

I am just east of Nashoba, which is south of Clayton, but we haven't seen any bears. Had a bad season this past year. Found out in January that the ranch manager was letting his buddies run hog dogs on our place. Land owner finally put a stop to it. Checked cams this weekend and hunting buddy said he had more deer pics this past month than he had all season. Hopefully, if we stay, the deer hunting will be better.

We are SE of Tushka. This'll be 2nd year. Lots of deer. A few hogs and trky.
Was surprised biggest deer on cam last year was 120-ish. And most were way smaller. Expected bigger..... I think the locals in that area don't let a buck age past 3. ???

Realling wanting a bigger place between I35 and 69/75.

Holler up if ya hear of anything.......

can't help in the area you are looking. Our place is a bit east of 69/75.
Have pics of deer in the 150-160 range but our deer numbers seem low. Hog numbers are more than I would like though.
We had an abundance of turkey last year but haven't had any pics of them in a couple months now.

Ace.....
I'm not opposed to anything E of Atoka, was just hoping for something in the middle, closer to Whitesboro (TX).
So keep me in mind if you hear of anything.
I could fill 2-6 spots if needed.

Derek.

Saw this on FB today and thought I'd pass it along...

"Pushmataha County Oklahoma Deer Lease. This county is well known as a big buck area of Oklahoma. 13,700 acres. Beautiful mountains and crystal clear streams. I have divided it up into 1,000 acre tracts at $9/acre. 4 memberships per 1,000 acres. This is year round access starting August 1st, 2018. Game includes deer, hogs, lots of turkeys and a few bears. No electricity or water hookups but the Honobia creek runs through the entire place. Multiple camps setup throughout property. This is a great recreational property!"

looks like some places in Oklahoma are trying to get as expensive as Texas.

We hunted this place or one real close to it two years ago for less then $5. The going rate in that area is about $5.00 to $5.50. Our owner tried to go to $10 and a lot set without hunters. We moved down the road about 10 miles for just over WAY less than $10. I am betting this guy paid $7 or so and is subleasing.

Anyone's place affected by the fires this past weekend? Lots of fire from Daisy over to south of Clayton. Part of our lease burned, did not look like any pines or oaks were in danger. Might be a good thing by the time it is all said and done.

Not sure how far south they were. The main fire I saw was about 10 miles south and a little east of Clayton. There were fires scattered all around the mountains. Good luck.

Yes Sir. We closed on a new place at the end of April. We are incredibly blessed.

Here is the thread:

We are still going to hunt our lease in Push County though.

Well these were still showing up.

Got up there last Friday to find almost a third of the lease had been thinned out by the logging company. We lost 2 cameras along with those trees.

Anyone use this service in Push and is it worth it on some of the timber company land? Kinda like the idea of the no till drill but the rocky ground could decide it. May work in some of the areas they cleared and thinned recently but the ruts from the logging equipment are pretty bad right now.

Looked at this just recently with my new place up in Haskell County. Probably will go more the poor man plot route for the first couple of years there.

With the lack of good topsoil on our place in Push county I donít think it would work for us. That and big rocks grow quicker than anything else up there.

Yes. I know for a fact he is subleasing. For a fact...not an opinion. I'm really not sure the manager of the trust that owns the land knows he's subleasing. I know the broker on this deal.

What do you guys plant in your food plots that has worked well for you?

When do you typically plant for your food plots?

Well MWW982 and I went to the lease today to pull cards! First 3 spots checked we found cameras had been stolen from 2 of them. Luckily I had an extra Stealth cam and python lock to replace the WGI that was stolen. Gonna be getting a few more python locks and putting some cams on the trail going to those spots. Maybe we can get some pics of our thief for the game warden.

sorry to hear that you were robbed. Thankfully it hasn't happened to us yet. I did have a feeder mechanism disappear but think the coons got it.

Nope, had 4 wheeler tracks towards the stands where the cameras were. Unless our bears have gotten jobs, purchased atv's.....don't think it was bears. Now as for ruining ground blinds.....definitely bears.

I started building quad-leg feeders out of heavy duty steel to stop them from doing to much damage. They will still rip the lids off from time to time but mostly my feeders hold up to the bear. you can see the feeders on my website nolanoutdoors dot com.

I just got a small lease for my son(10 years old) and I up in Johnston County between Tishomingo and Milburn. I haven't really hunted in about 15 years and he's never been hunting so we're looking forward to spending some time together up there this Fall. Got a feeder up and a game cam out but haven't had a chance to go back and check yet to see if we're getting anything on camera.

Be hunting Push county( n/ w of Rattan) for the first time this year. Gonna be a big change from hunting in Coke county. Don't know what to expect exactly (deer, turkey, hogs and bears.....that's gonna be a hoot). Hoping for a good year.
