Well I had to call it quits early yesterday evening. I can handle the wind picking up and the temp dropping like a rock but when the lightning starts dancing all around me it's time to take it to the house. I got up this morning and it feels more like deer hunting weather. The "Deermeter" said 48. There was no flashlight needed on my travels to the stand this hunt. As I got closer to my spot I heard something stomping at me so I froze and all I could make out was to bigger bodied deer. Then I heard a buck snort at me and they took off. Once I got situated I could hear something pretty close behind me, then it came up right under me on my left side and it was a very thick coated coyote. He sniffed around for a little while then made his way down the river. About 15 minutes ago I had a buck I haven't seen yet trot past me out in the hay field. He wasn't a shooter but it's good to see new faces.
