    Any pecan experts?

I've got 2 big pecan trees that are loaded every year, but the pecans are no good. Any ideas? I picked this sack today, for this many pecans.

Used to make very good pecans until harvey, haven't had a good crop in 3 years.

In for an answer. My last house had two big pecan trees and rarely would you find a good one.

              Was the tree under water?

I have a couple in my yard and they never make any pecans, just big giant shade trees.

Mine are the same way. South of Ft. Worth.

Last year was the same way.

Maybe too much rain in the spring.

I've always thought it was a rain issue, but this year that's not been the case.

If the issue started after Harvey, try applying a systemic fungicide now (even though we're heading into winter), again in early March and again in late May. Use Monterrey Agri-fos and follow the directions on the label.

Pecan trees need zinc. Search the web on how and when to apply.

                        Try calling an arborist?

My mother has a bunch of pecan trees, she was getting a bunch of bad pecans earlier in the pecan season. Most, if not all were bad. But the pecans that are dropping later many of those are good. She said it was because of the lack of rain, when the pecans were blooming and first started growing. Later we got lots of rain. Whatever the problem is, it seems to have affected our hickory trees also, I have not found any hickory nuts this year.
