What did this to my deer??

Shot this deer around dark, waited for an hour or so, tracked and found him around 8:00.
What could have done this with such precision? Not really ripped or torn and Looks like it was done with knife! I guess we frightened whatever it was before it got a chance to eat.
Any ideas what may have done this?

in my experience, coyotes try to rip into the guts first. cats go for the meat first, not the guts. So I would say coyotes

Yeah, I'm trying to post a pic of a hog I killed, the hole looks just like what they did to your deer. The hog I shot had only been dead for about an hour. Message me your number, I'll text the pic to you if you want.

They will eat the guts out of a live fawn so I would guess they would to a full grown dead dear too. KAP
