Pistol suggestion for wife?

My wife would like her first handgun. She's a little ovewhelmed with my 9mm sig p226 so was thinking of somehing like a Walther P22 or similar - any ideas are welcome.

Is it recoil she's intimidated by or operating the slide on an automatic? If it's the latter I'd suggest a wheel gun. If it's recoil I would still step up to at least a .380. No offense...but IMO a .22 rim fire is just slightly better than throwing a rock at someone in terms of damage.

I have shot a bersa thunder 380 and it's not a bad little gun for the price. Walther ppk looks the same and is built better but more money.

Take her to Red's indoor range on women's night. She'll be able to shoot a bunch of different pistols for free (except for ammo) and figure out which one she likes for herself.

I got my wife a Colt Mustang .380 and she really likes it. Recoil is not bad and not to heavy either. Fits her hands well.

My wife loves her shield 9mm. She also has a ruger LC9, but does not care for the double action trigger.
