    Smokeless Powder ID

I have a tub of smokeless powder that I am "pretty sure" what it is, but not 100% certain. Is there a safe way to determine ID?
I know its either 4831 or 4350. I was thinking of loading a "safe" load, that would be safe for either of the powders, and chrono it.
Anyone have input to help ID?
I know.... I can just throw it out and move on, but its probably 10# total.

I would be scared of it

Hopefully someone can point you in right direction

Seems like an accident in the making, best I could say is proceed with extreme caution.

I'd be leery also. Set a match to it and be sure to post the video.

It would be anti climatic. Just a flash and lots of smoke.

Gunpowder is flammable, not explosive unless ignited and contained within a vessel of some sort.

I know that and smokeless powder isn't technically an explosive. I've seen what a few ounces I got rid of does and I can't imagine the heat and flash from 10lbs.

If either of those powders in the open uncontained it will burn slower than most will believe and produce a lot of smoke. Makes good fretilizer also.

If you know for sure it is one of those 2 your idea might work. I think some h4831 starting loads will be about mid range loads for h4350. Do not have data in front of me though
