i think weatherby is still having a big sale on stocks on their website.
i looked last week and they had not put vanguard model stocks on sale yet. half off on some. maybe worth looking into just to get ideas.

ive been around a couple of older wood stock weatherby vanguards. great rifles

I was curious about those numbers too. Fastest Hodgen shows is a touch over 2900 but that is with a 24 inch gun

3075 from a 180 Berger in a 7RM is definitely leaning on it.

Seen just under 3000 from a 26" with Norma brass and seated way out.

26” proof sending a 180 berger HVLD at 3075 with retumbo and Norma brass.

73.5 grains of retumbo and a CCI BR2. 2.8xx” BTO

Those Vanguard rifles don’t get enough attention. I have one but don’t get to shoot it much. When I did shoot it I loved the way it fit me and the action is very smooth.

Here's a controversial opinion, I had a 1990s 7mm WBY that was actually a MK-V and I dusted it off a couple of years ago and I just couldn't find anything I liked about it. The trigger was unsatisfactory, the accuracy was unsatisfactory, the scope was ridiculous, and it somehow kicked like a mule while also weighing a ton. Only rifle I've ever sold straight to Cabela's.

I have old guns that I like (1960s Colt Scout comes to mind), but I'm generally of the opinion that in all areas except walnut grain quality we're living in the Good Old Days with modern rifles.

I will be sure to let yall know how it shoots. Right now I have no idea when I will be able to get away to the range though.
