Default 2017 Dallas Cowboys season thread....

Better late than never! It's that time of year again folks!! The boys are back in Oxnard hoping to improve on their season next year

Cowboys sign Lael Collins to a 2 year deal to play right tackle. Let's hope he is the real deal there and can stay healthy. Glad they got him signed though

Lucky Whitehead....He Gone! No more getting knocked 5 yards backwards on kick off return tackles while the dreads stay at the initial point of contact!

Defense Defense Defense......please come together

Here's to hoping for a great season for America's Team..

If they can stay out of jail, I think they'll make a decent run into the playoffs this year.

Thanks for starting this Jason.....the Texan fans don't have anywhere else to vent!
J. Smith is looking good. It'll be interesting to see if he continues to improve.

It's reported that the charges against Lucky Whitehead have been dropped. Maybe they'll rehire him?

Lucky was a scapegoat just to save some face with the organization. Too much negative press on their players actions. I heard an interview this am where Garret (i believe) was quoted saying "this was the best decision of the team and hope he find success elsewhere" immediately after hearing Lucky was right and was not involved with the crime he was accused.

A scapegoat? Hell he was just a stinkin goat. Reports are that he was always late and dozed in meetings. He was getting cut anyway with the addition of Switzer.
It's no secret why they drafter him.

It is funny that he got cut now for somebody else's arrest though.

While i agree with your assessment, i wouldnt want to be cut in that manner if it was me. The whole situation smells of bad judgement. If he was that bad of a player and team mate, man up, cut him and tell him why. Not beat around the bush and not leave some to speculate the real reason for him getting released.
IDK, maybe i just expect too much honesty from these folks

Kinda bittersweet that its the first season that the Cowboys enter training camp without #9 leading the helm in 10 years, but looking forward to seeing what Dak does going forward and building on his rookie season.

Some thoughts:
-Defense is a little sketchy, but I'm really looking forward to seeing Jaylon Smith in action

-How soon until we see Martin extended? Frederick and Tyron are locked up til 2024 - Collins locked up til 2019. hoping they do the same for Zack soon too.

- Go Cowboys

Not if we cant secure a reputable LT. Duane Brown is being a little sissy with his contract dispute with 2 years left on his current contract. With no good veterans on this young O line, our QB's are doomed before they even start unless they make up some ground in FA after the cuts.

I think they have a lot to work with this season, and I am excited about that! Although they have a bunch of young talent in major roles, offense and defense side of the ball, I think they have enough veterans to carry them through.

Also while everyone is on the subject of "if the cowboys stay out of jail" the Cowboys are tied for 6th (giants) to last in players arrested since 2000 I believe. Vikings are in first

Yall should be pretty happy that there was only (1) Cowboy bashing, Texan praising post so far. The stereotypical "cowboys suck" really hasnt started yet.

But i'll let someone else take care of that bit. Im just here to talk about Football. I'm so ready for it to start, i can already hear the pads poppin and whistles blowing!

Come on guys, don't fill the page with thread crapping.

I think we won't have as good of a record because of a tougher schedule but we will be a better team because of increased athleticism on the defensive side of the ball. Offense will hum along and might even be better than last year with the addition of Switzer. As a defense, who do you cover? Witten, Beasley and Switzer will be open all day over the middle as long as Dez is drawing a double team. I don't see them as a big play explosive offense but I see them moving the chains at will and pounding the opposing defense into submission with Zeke then hitting first downs off play action, just like last year.

Go Cowboys!
