Default Insurance/ death/ debt ?

So last night I thought I was having a heart attach, chest pains and sweating bad. But we don't have great insurance, so I did not want to go to the er. I figured it would be cheaper to let him take me if it was my time. If they had to do emergency surgery or something and I lived, I would owe hundreds of thousands of dollars. I for sure don't want that. Never really though about this before this, wondering if others have. This sucks.

That's not insurance then. You need a plan that has an out of pocket max that won't put you in dire straits. You can get disability insurance for very little money.

I do have a max but it's a crazy amount. And it's not like I can change it now.

That's right, go to Doctor. medical bills are the one thing that they can't put you in jail for, family would want you here more, God tells us that he will provide for us if we are a child of his, don't have Ins. myself but when I have to go I go and don't worry about it.

God Bless

What they said
A couple of years ago there was an article in the paper hear that talked about the cost of a heart attack. You could go to Austin Heart Hospital and it was like 82,000$ for your basic heart attack. Now if you could make it over to Taylor,tx (@40 miles give or take from Austin) they would save your life for $18,000..... ;(. If your living on the ragged edge it's probably worth it to do some prep...

I can't believe I'm saying this because 5-6 years ago it would have been crazy.. but I can actually relate to this... this is not a political statement, but there are ALOT of people that have to think about that very thing now. For a ton of of folks it is truly a danged if you do, danged if you don't situation.

You need to get checked out. Worse case you just make a payment plan. Your family having you is more important than money. My son was born with complications. I had insurance but still had to play a large amount out pocket. I just put it on a payment plan.

Go to the doc. If everything is fine, get a life insurance policy. They are not that much. I pay $90 for a million dollar policy. If I wasnít such a fat ***, Iíd pay less. And most people certainly donít need a 1M dollar policy. My wife is younger than me and we pay $25 for half a mil.

Regardless, go to the doctor. If you are healthy - life insurance will be cheap. If not though, you may not be able to get insured.

You cant afford not to go. As long as you are above ground you have options,as mentioned above if you live and are incapacitated how do you think your loved ones will fare? Also,if you cant afford advanced medical care then what are you doing to make yourself healthier? My prayers for you Sir.

Listen to me.

My wife had a catastrophic accident Dec 2015. Intensive care for over 2 weeks, $37,000 AirEvac charge, insurance company paid OVER $350,000 to hospitals and doctors. She is ALIVE and that is all that matters. I pay $100 a month on a $30,000 helicopter bill. That is all that is required. You are thinking of dollars and cents. The priority is you and your loved ones. You can’t put a price on that. Go to a DOCTOR TODAT!

The spouse or child(ren) do not inherit debt. When you sign all the paperwork have them bill you and only you. They cannot come after your spouse or child(ren) after your gone. If that was the case I’d be in medical debt for the rest of my life from my father.

Yes there is a lot more to consider than the cost of treatment. Do you have family? How will there financial situation be affected by your death? Burial expenses are high also. If You have children do you want someone else guiding their life other than you? They can not repo a medical procedure.

Go to the doctor and get your heart checked. While you're there, get your head checked because you're off your freaking rocker. Debt sucks, but they can't eat you. I can't imagine a man that would rather be dead than in debt because it may inconvenience his family. How bad do you think living without you would inconvenience them? C'mon man. This is something most of us will face at some point. I think it depends more on what life expectancy is. If I know regardless I will have X months, I will really think about it. If it is one of those things that can be fixed and have years left, I'm getting it fixed. Truthfully I would have most likely done the same as you but got in to my Dr asap for a checkup, or go straight to my cardio guy if I though it wasn't a for sure life and death choice that night.

Prayers for you and your family.

DJ
this..

most people dont realize this and think they will just die, when in fact u will likely leave your family the burden of dealing with an old man that craps himself and becomes a nuisance. Take care of yourself quit being selfish and think about the others that care about you

speaking from exp with my family
stroke is the leading cause of disability in the usa and heart attack is just another term for a stroke of the heart

1)Get to the Dr.
2)Go to https://mychristiancare.org/medi-share/ and check our their insurance. This is what my parents use, and it is the most affordable insurance they could find. You pay into a pool and when you have medical expenses come up, you draw from this pool. Medishare sends you cards when you draw to send to those in the same pool as a thank you. You also receive cards and info from people that have had to use the insurance.

or, you don't die and because you didn't go to the hospital, you saddle your family with caring for your sorry carcass when an $8 Bayer aspirin would have you back at home in good health.

Iím with Curt.

Iíve had 3 throat surgeries this year with a $10k out of pocket max that we hit. Payment plans for medical bills are zero interested most of the time. A little debt is better than saddling them with funeral expenses or worse... you might not die and become a vegetable that will cost them a lot more than a visit to the ER for a heart attack

All heart attacks not fatal and they can damage your heart to a point where you will need constant medical help. So you still will have debt. I would get an appointment with a DR. get a full blown physical. It may be something that diet and exercise along with some meds can be treated for a small amount of money each month. Prayers for you!
