Essential Oils
I don't know anything about them except my wife has a whole box of those little bottles of stuff. She puts different ones on her neck if she has allergies/cold/whatever, and does the same for our son. He's missed one day of school in 2 years and she is rarely sick. She also puts drops in a little machine that makes mist out of it, not sure what that does but it makes the house smell good.
She puts stuff in the dogs water too. I told her if she found one to keep skeeters away that I'd buy in....

I have learned that cottonballs soaked in peppermint oil will keep mice out of the blind and cabin at the lease. It doesn't seem to upset the wildlife either.
My MIL made up a concoction for me that takes care of headaches. Put a drop on your thumb, and press it against the roof of your mouth for a few seconds. Headache gone in minutes. Works pretty darn good.
Oh - Cedar Oil will keep the skeeters away. You can get it in a spray bottle on Amazon. Works pretty darn good.
