    Definitely a copperhead. The head does look strange but I'm guessing not all of it is there.

                    Looks like the snake was run inverted/killed then thrown up into the brush. Just my guess. That area is within the copperhead's range, state record is 52".

                    Better picture and story line of the event?

                      Markings are certainly Copperhead but I personally have never seen one climb, not to say they can't though.

                      Does look really big to be a Copperhead, but then again, sometimes there are just freaks out there.

                      Hope you killed it and can get some better pics and measurements.

                            I find them on the trunks of large pecan trees when the cicadas come out of the ground to shed.

                              Maybe a Pine Snake judging by the head shape. They come in all sorts of colors.
