Remember the Olympics and how much TV time the sister got. How the Koreans fielded a team together for the first time, well ever? How the Koreans met for the first time since the war, ever?

Can you to at least begrudgingly admit, there have been a lot of good "firsts" with NK under Trump?

The first member of the North's ruling dynasty to visit the South since the Korean War ended in an armistice in 1953, Kim on Saturday made headlines across the globe when she delivered an invitation to South Korean President Moon Jae-in to visit North Korea.

I agree 100%.

The supreme leader will protect his people against the evil USA empire. But, oh wait, what if his big old bomb just done blowed up in his face. Now what? Negotiate, posture, come clean that he not as supreme as he told everyone? He has kind of painted himself into a bit of a corner with what you state above, no?

Heres some words from a defector:
Quote:
A NORTH Korean defector has told US President Donald Trump not to trust the secretive country’s leader Kim Jong-un and his apparent willingness to discuss “denuclearisation”.
By CIARAN MCGRATH

Donald Trump has been told he should not trust Kim Jong-un.
North Korea is a wasteland of human rights and it is so disappointing that Kim is being taken seriously.

Defector Na Min-hee, who now lives in South Korea, was among hundreds of young performers at a massive parade in Pyongyang in 2010 marking Kim’s debut as heir to his father Kim Jong-il – and she urged Mr Trump not to be taken in.

Her warning came as Kim prepares to travel to the Demilitarised Zone for a meeting with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Friday which will pave the way for an historic summit with Mr Trump himself, possibly as early as next month.

She said: “I hope Trump does not waver from his previous position on North Korea. The country is not changing.

“I hope he will remember that Kim Jong-un is a criminal violating the human rights of the North Korean people.

“North Korea is a wasteland of human rights and it is so disappointing that Kim is being taken seriously.”

Mr Trump and Kim traded insults for months after the US leader’s 2016 election victory, so it was a major shock when he revealed he was prepared to meet his much-ridiculed counterpart.

However, Na questioned Kim’s sincerity, suggesting that he was simply playing for time as economic pressure increased on his country following the imposition of tough international sanctions.

She explained: “Kim is just trying to find a way out of the dilemmas he’s facing right now.

For my whole life, his father, Kim Jong-il, and now Kim Jong-un have not been interested in any real change.

“That would only lead to the demise of him and his regime.

“North Koreans are being told that these summits are only taking place because the US is afraid of the country’s nuclear weapons.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in is due to meet Kim on Friday
“These summits will be used as propaganda in Pyongyang to prop up the glorious reputation of Kim Jong-un as leader.”

Na is descended from communist rebels who fought alongside Kim Il-sung, the North’s founder, in 1948.

She worked as a chef in Pyongyang after graduating from college but was eventually permitted to apply for a job as a foreign worker as a consequence of being from a “good family”.

She ended up working in a Chinese-run factory in another country, the details of which she wanted to keep confidential to protect others.

The vast majority of what she earned was sent back to North Korea, which is heavily reliant on income generated by its army of overseas workers to help prop up its ailing economy.

She said: “We were not allowed to talk to other workers. We could only leave the property once a week in supervised groups to buy food.

"We were not allowed to use phones and we could not watch television.”

She eventually managed to escape with £175 she managed to save and managed to contact a South Korean embassy.

She now lives in Seoul, where she is getting ready to go to university with the help a charity called Teach North Korean Refugees.

I dont think that anyone disagrees that the NK people are brain washed by Kim. But you realize you are quoting a defector. A defector, by definition, couldn't have been all that brain washed anyways.

At some point Kim is going to have to show his hand. He can lie to his people, but he cant lie to the world forever. It would happen regardless but I think Trump is going to make it happen sooner rather than later. He has kind of already proved that.

I am just trying to look at Kims options objectively. From your defectors quote, it kind of sounds like Kim has to negotiate with somebody. His country is not self sufficient food wise (and prob in other areas as well), that would be a pretty be dilemma for anybody. But a bigger dilemma for a lil fat boy, that been telling everybody he is devine.

However, Na questioned Kim’s sincerity, suggesting that he was simply playing for time as economic pressure increased on his country following the imposition of tough international sanctions.

She explained: “Kim is just trying to find a way out of the dilemmas he’s facing right now.

let the games begin.....
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea canceled a high-level meeting Wednesday with South Korea and threatened also to call off a historic summit planned next month with the United States due to ongoing military exercises between the South and the U.S., South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.

The two Koreas were set to hold a meeting later Wednesday at a border truce village to discuss setting up military and Red Cross talks aimed at reducing border tension and restarting reunions between families separated by the Korean War.

But hours before the meeting was to take place, Pyongyang canceled the meeting and also questioned whether next month's talks between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump would happen, Yonhap reported, citing North Korea's Korean Central News Agency.

Quote:
North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Kye-gwan has warned his country could pull out of a summit with US President Donald Trump, accusing Washington of harbouring sinister intentions. Here is his statement in full:

Kim Jong-un, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea [DPKR], made a strategic decision to put an end to the unpleasant history of the DPRK-US relations and met [Mike] Pompeo, US secretary of state, for two times during his visit to our country and took very important and broad-minded steps for peace and stability in the Korean peninsula and the world.

In response to the noble intention of Chairman Kim Jong-un, President Trump stated his position for terminating the historically deep-rooted hostility and improving the relations between the DPRK and the US.

I appreciated the position positively with an expectation that the upcoming DPRK-US summit would be a big step forward for catalysing detente on the Korean peninsula and building a great future.

N Korea threatens to cancel Trump summit
But now prior to the DPRK-US summit, unbridled remarks provoking the other side of dialogue are recklessly made in the US and I am totally disappointed as these constitute extremely unjust behaviour.

High-ranking officials of the White House and the Department of State including John Bolton, White House national security adviser, are letting loose the assertions of a so-called Libya mode of nuclear abandonment: "complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation", "total decommissioning of nuclear weapons, missiles, biochemical weapons" etc, while talking about a formula of "abandoning nuclear weapons first, compensating afterwards".

This is not an expression of intention to address the issue through dialogue.

'Libyan scenario'
It is essentially a manifestation of an awfully sinister move to impose on our dignified state the destiny of Libya or Iraq, which had been brought down due to yielding the whole of their countries to big powers.

I cannot suppress indignation at such moves of the US, and harbour doubt about the US sincerity for improved DPRK-US relations through sound dialogue and negotiations.

Will historic Koreas summit lead to peace?
The world knows too well that our country is neither Libya nor Iraq which have met miserable fates.

It is absolutely absurd to dare compare the DPRK, a nuclear weapon state, to Libya which had been at the initial stage of nuclear development.

We shed light on the quality of Bolton already in the past, and we do not hide our feeling of repugnance towards him.

If the Trump administration fails to recall the lessons learned from the past when the DPRK-US talks had to undergo twists and setbacks owing to the likes of Bolton, and turns its ear to the advice of quasi-"patriots" who insist on a Libya mode and the like, the prospects of the forthcoming DPRK-US summit and overall DPRK-US relations will be crystal clear.

Media captionWhy North Korea is angry at this man
We have already stated our intention for denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula and made clear on several occasions that precondition for denuclearisation is to put an end to the anti-DPRK hostile policy and nuclear threats and blackmail of the United States.

But now, the US is miscalculating the magnanimity and broad-minded initiatives of the DPRK as signs of weakness and trying to embellish and advertise as if these are the product of its sanctions and pressure.

The US is trumpeting as if it would offer economic compensation and benefit in case we abandon nukes.

But we have never had any expectation of US support in carrying out our economic construction and will not at all make such a deal in future, too.

'We won't be cornered'
It is a ridiculous comedy to see that the Trump administration, claiming to take a different road from the previous administrations, still clings to the outdated policy on the DPRK - a policy pursued by previous administrations at the time when the DPRK was at the stage of nuclear development.

If President Trump follows in the footsteps of his predecessors, he will be recorded as a more tragic and unsuccessful president than his predecessors, far from his initial ambition to make unprecedented success.

If the Trump administration takes an approach to the DPRK-US summit with sincerity for improved DPRK-US relations, it will receive a deserved response from us.

However, if the US is trying to drive us into a corner to force our unilateral nuclear abandonment, we will no longer be interested in such dialogue and cannot but reconsider our proceeding to the DPRK-US summit.

It is sad to see that there are people rooting for what exactly, Kim to keep killing and oppressing his people, Kim to keep/get a nuke, Kim to keep disrupting world affairs? I mean I expect it from the media, and some of the loons on the left, but it is like people are rejoicing that NoKo might stay an oppressed chithole, because they dont want Donnie to get credit for fixing anything. That is really beyond sad.

I still say that Trump will continue to make progress in NK.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, the president stressed he would still insist on the isolated regime dismantling its nuclear program. Asked if Kim is bluffing by suggesting he could pull out of the summit, Trump responded, "we'll see what happens."

"We haven't been notified at all," the president said.

Are you a ****ing idiot or just obtuse by nature?
NO ONE is rooting for the bad guy...

We dont TRUST the bad guy based on the bad guys history, he entire families history, hes education, his nature, his countries oppression, the countries complete and embracing idea that their leader is a God....
Its common sense... something you seem to be struggling to grasp... or just refuse to see because it makes your blind and unprecedented leg humping of a Trump victory in this case seem unattainable.
IT IS unattainable.

Rocket man needs this deal to go through way more than the US...he's too unpredictable for any high stakes but would gamble a beer the meeting happens as of today.

If it doesn't, he loses huge and we stay in our holding pattern.

Agreed...if it doesn't happen we smile and walk away and continue on with our bubbling economy and living some good life....while his people continue to starve and his infrastructure crumbles.
