    Nilgai Skinning Rack Recommendations?

Looking for something I can purchase that would make skinning Nilgai easier.

I almost bought one of these but didn’t know if it would hold 1000 pounds. The feeder is 300lb it winches up and the winch is rated for 1200 pounds but I’m not sure about the legs. Not to mention it may be tight to turn the Nilgai towards the top if needed.

Heeeeeeell no I wouldn't get under one of those with a big bull hangin from it.

Are you looking for a portable, or permanent fixture?

      Telephone poles work good.

Front end loader on the tractor is about all I would trust.

That’s what I use currently but looking for something easier in case the tractor won’t start or the tires are flat.

If I was building my own, I'd use 4"X3/16"wall square tubing for the two uprights, set as deep as I could dig in concrete. 2"X3/16"wall square tubing for 2 deadmen, and braces going out backward. I'd use one or the other to build a truss to go over the top. Pipe would work too, I just like the look of tubing better.

Why not just skin it on the ground like an elk or moose?

Because I would think it’s easier to do on a rack vs on the ground but I’ve never done one on the ground so maybe I’m missing something.

I had one of the cables break while I was cranking up a load of corn. I would not get under that tripod,

I'm having trouble picturing what you are describing.

Ground is easiest and safest I feel. Start at belly and work up a side. Roll onto hide- repeat. Use hide to lay meat and quarters in. Always have place to lay knives and tools that are easy to get to.
