Adidas about to get a major lesson that you cant do the whole bribery thing with US amateur athletes that you can get away with in international soccer. Louisville, Az St, Auburn, USC is who all ive heard so far. This story is going to blow up in a huge way on a national basis.

And btw, Louisville basketball may get the death penalty over this. Very least, they were losing the 2013 banner over hookergate. Now they have one of your asst on wiretap saying they have to keep this payments very quiet because they are already on probation. Pitino and Jurich will be gone by the end of the week.

-unnamed now deceased East Texas Sheriff

My experience is when they get you in their sights (and it's too late when the targeted suspect reliazes it) That it's all over but the plea deal and the trickle UP effect.

Don't know anything about this handball club though

I'm so glad our federal government is spending our tax dollars on college kids getting paid for what they do.
                  SMDH.
                  Ridiculous.
Just like I was so glad our supreme court spent all that time & money on baseball players who may have used steroids.
                  SMDH.
These are truly first world problems & a pathetic waste of OUR money.

Just out of curiosity, how much trouble can Adidas get in since they are a German based company?

Big 12 not landing Louisville might be a good thing based off some of the info I have read.

The answer should be zero but we like to blow time & money on nothing so:
US government on investigating it: $1.3M
                        Adidas: $0
It's become the American (government) way!

This whole deal with have zero positive affect on anybody's life.

It is the University of AZ that was caught up in the scandal. It is the second class school of the state in Tucson.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, is it? We've been reading for years about guys like George Raveling and Bret Bearup who are "handlers" for certain shoe/apparel companies. They steer kids to certain programs, make handshake deals with 17 year olds (and families) and have woven themselves into the NCAA basketball world so deep, they are thought of as necessary evils for many programs.

With the explosion of AAU and other summer programs, this will only get worse. When the chances of making millions of dollars is out there, there will always be people willing to bend the rules to get their cut of the pie. A little disappointed that the FBI had to get involved but it may be a bigger issue than the NCAA can handle.

Anyway, not ranting about what is right or what is wrong but the college football/basketball world is a much different landscape than it was 20 years ago. It's definitely way beyond just a kid getting a full ride scholarship to play for a certain school. Will be interesting to see what becomes of this. Rumors are there are more schools and more high profile coaches on the radar screen.
