Those aren't your children, they belong to the state

Yes I know it's California, but it will be coming to a state near you eventually. I don't have kids yet, but will do everything I can to make sure they're home schooled, or work 35 jobs to send them to a private school of my choosing. The public school system as a whole is a complete failure.

I have a year to decide what we are going to do. But I think we will try public school and monitor my son, his teacher and work lessons VERY closely. If we notice ANYTHING thats not right we will yank and move him to a private school with a good reputation.

My daughter is in the 9th grade. Told me the other day that a bunch of students and teachers were pushing the anti 2nd amendment game the other day. My mother a retired teacher was furious and wanted to contact the school. I told her don't bother, they all do it across the country it is not isolated and I don't allow teachers to indoctrinate my children. My children are raised by me and their respective momma. She schooled them all that day on why we have the second amendment.

Anytime there is something getting hot in the political world I have a talk with my daughter to make sure she knows what is actually going on.

The public school experience is what you make of it. Know your kids, and stay involved. Make time to visit. I spend days at each of my kiddos schools. I know their stupid friends. I know their teachers and live in a great little town.

I went to private school 10-12th grade. I can tell you a few things.

We placed our kids in a private/home school combination last year. It happens to be 45 min from our house. It is difficult to manage but worth the effort thus far.
They spend K-3 in public school which was pretty good but this seems to be better.
As for Cali, its run by socialist communist who actually think they own your kids so nothing surprises me coming from there

That's a good way to view it, I just don't know how much longer it will be a viable option. It is only going to get worse as the students that are being indoctrinated become the teachers and the state continually intrudes on personal lives of the students. It already happens more than it should, even in states like ours.

Agreed, but the public schools every where already reach into far more places than they should. It would not be far fetched at all to see something like this in a state that is thought of as more free.

No offense taken. Having not gone to private school I really didn't know this. I'll just scratch them off my list too. .

I do agree with your above post about public school being what you make of it. I just worry about the direction we seem to be heading as a nation when it comes to public education. No doubt there are still great schools and great teachers, I just don't know how long that will continue.

It's unfortunate that some teachers feel the need to discuss politics. I went to middle/highschool during the Bush years in Houston, and can't recall any of my teachers ever discussing their views on politics.

There is a (short) period of time immediately after the birth of a child you are actually right.
And that's doubly sure if you're the dad.
Baby isnt associated with you while in maternity ward.
Baby sticks with mom 100% until baby and mom are discharged.
