He used a 20 gauge slug. It was trotting along, never stopped. His first shot off a tripod. It was DRT! Awesome shot. This is one very proud Dad. :-)

Nice job for your son TBolt. It was my first one. That's a tough shot with a slug, as there is not a lot of room between the shoulder and the stomach, and if you hit the shoulder you just lost half your meat.
It was so windy that first day I was surprised to hear you saw some. I didn't realize till sunday that another hunter was there as well. He showed up at the check station about 10am to start hunting again, not realizing the hunt was over at noon. I doubt he got anything in those last two hours.
