If you use Tapatalk you can turn the settings to nighttime reading mode and it will turn the background black with white letters.
Blasphemy I know, but it won't light up your blind or affect your night vision as much that way.

I’ve been doing this for several years. Night mode. Also on an iPhone you can put a red color filter on the screen in settings. That really helps keep the screen dim and your eyes good to go.
