I believe that is a scimitar horned oryx and I have heard they are tasty but never had any myself.

one of my personal favorite wild game meats, I prefer it over axis.. very good chicken fried cutlets! a lot of meat comes off those suckers so be careful at the processor to avoid running up a huge bill!

I know of three or four ranches in eastern Webb Co. that have them. A buddy saw a sable wandering loose on a county road a few weeks ago.
Never know where or when some exotic will show up

I just talked to our ranch foreman and he said there was a sable running in the bar ditch off 59 a month or so ago. He saw him with his own eyes so Iíd tend to believe him too. What the heck is going on down here

For a little while they became off limits. The feds categorized them like the Pierre David Deer. You couldn't hunt them without a special permit (despite being exotic). However within a few years they went back on it and they're fair game again. Um be sure you don't post any LDPs with a tag in its ear.

If it has a brand or ear tag, I wouldn’t post any pics if you do shoot. The state garners exotics the same as livestock and just like killing your neighbors cow for getting out, you could get in some legal trouble if someone was to make a deal out of it.

Years ago I was hunting hogs on a hf near Carta Valley, I set my longbow against the fence and go sneak off to go relieve myself in the bushes, I come back and there is one of those, a female, chewing on the end of my bow. Must have been tame because I had to get aggressive to get my bow back. I'd shoot one just out of spite.
