    Another AC question..

We bought our house less than 3 yrs. ago.

Last year, I had to replace outside unit, because the micro channels were leaking. Home warranty helped out with this.

Now, the Aluminum lineset has developed a leak... Just past the connection with the copper.

My AC guy, who I have used for 34 yrs. is recommending, to replace the lineset ( high and low pressure lines ) with copper, to the inside unit.

    Does 500$ sound reasonable??

They will have to crawl under the house to perform most of the work.

I thought it was a fair price. Copper is not cheap, and he is giving me a break on the labor. I guess customer loyalty has its privileges. Burleson Air and Heat has always treated me right, not trying to upsell me stuff I don't need.

I figured changing over to copper will save me headaches down the road.

I'm assuming this is in a mobile home. I've run into these a lot lately.
To answer your question, that is a heck of a price, especially if it includes a new filter drier, recharge, vacuum, and all the other stuff that goes into a job well done.

Apparently not... They could have attempted to " fix the leak ", but I chose to replace it. Rather than come back later for another leak.

Matt, you are correct. The guys fixing it are not the original installers. Wish I would have known then, what I know now.

                      Thanks for the replies.
