I’m not a 1st tuner and I drew 3 hunts. Been putting in for 5 years straight. Went 2 years with nothing. Last 3 years have been fruitful. Your assessment may be correct but I doubt it.

Got 33 years of preference points on gun deer either sex and not drawn again. Maybe 34 will be lucky.

What in the heck...makes no sense. Except that's similar to you plus 33 other people putting in so the total pool increases? You still have more entries, so what in the actual flip TPWD?

          That’s incredible!

Same here. I drew three hunts this year and have drawn a lot of hunts over the last fourteen years that I have been applying. Drew Richland GDE the first year I put in for in 2004.

Aransas NWR General Deer (probably going to pass because of date conflicts)
Pat Mayse Gun Deer Either Sex (11/10-11/12)
Matagorda Isl Gun Deer Either Sex (11/12-11/14)
Private Ranch Gun Deer Either Sex (11/15-11/17)

Gonna be a busy week with a lot of miles from 11/10-11/17!

Congrats but that is crazy. I put in for 8 gun deer either sex along with a few others. I put in for only one management hunt and most didn’t work date wise and really only put that one in to get another point. Have 15 points in GDE and no draws and I get drawn on the one entry for management that I was sorta hoping not to get. Now I have to rearrange things at work but I did always want to hunt Mason Mountain so will still enjoy it.

I wouldn't buy any lottery tickets if I were you.

Ive been putting in for the last few years to build points and I actually won. GDE Inks/longhorns cavern with 4 points. Really excited for my 1st txpw hunt, but less so the more I read about the particulars, (escorted to the blind and picked up by park staff, assigned blinds, not allowed out of blind to hunt) but I'm still happy about getting to put a hunt on the family calender. Any info offered would be helpful (ive already read all threads on here) apparently I should bring Doritos and shake the bag?!?

I know he won an EPost Archery Deer to Daughtrey. I think that is worth a few lotto tickets!

                      I’m thinking you’re right.

Last year I applied late September for what was left. My son got a SHNF doe permit and I scored zilch.

This year we applied together on every hunt on the 1st day the site was active. We both drew Granger and SHNF doe permits and my son drew Abilene SP and the Chap antlerless.

I believe us applying together and him being 10 helped a lot.

I am a first timer to applying for hunts, applied for about 10 different hunts the first day the hunts became available.
I was drawn for Granger so I’m looking forward to it, maybe I’ll snag another if I’m lucky.

Daughter drew Martin Dies antlerless bow. Son and I Drew balcones Nov 16-18. Waterfowl coming up Oct 1st. I'd like to draw the adult/youth at playa dimmit or the duck pheasant. Next hoped for is Richland Creek.

My sons been asking me to take him squirrel hunting. I applied for that one but I really don't need it to go. Just thought it would be fun to win. Also it would set a date for us.

Anyone that has info on Martin Dies?

Nope, you just got lucky. Plenty of examples of kids that get past 16 and never drew a deer hunt.

I drew Laguna Atascosa for the 1/4-1/6 rifle hunt. Never been there but I'm excited for the challenge.

My wife and I will be there at Laguna the same dates. Good luck to you
