Got to brag on my wife as she took her very first deer this past week. We spent the week at lease and found a buck she named Screwtop because he had crooked G2/3 on left side that we decided would be her target buck. Being she’d never killed she was worried that she wouldn’t make an ethical shot with her bow so was considering using my .270. I told her to bring her bow and load up. Took her to blind and set her a target up and said shoot the target. She drilled 3 arrows in tight, I told her you’re good a just need to seal the deal and she agrees. Next morning I sit her in stand and go to one for myself. You could tell she was a little nervous as she was much more chatty than usual. At 6:50 I get the text along with pic “Holy s#@t”....lol. A few minutes later “Got him, but holy crap I’m shaking”....we text back and forth about how she felt about shot and how he reacted. She then texts “Doe are staring and stomping where he ran” I return text “He’s prolly DRT!” Told her we’ll sit a bit then I’ll head over. We start where he was standing and have good blood....a few more yards and there he lays....made it about 25-30 yds. She smoked him!! Sorry I’m long winded but I’m super proud of her. She informed me that she was now a true TexasBowhunter....lol
