Default Terrel Owens -----Hall of Fame?

So, the inductees will be announced tomorrow. I get it, they knelt for the National Anthem and I know most of you have boycotted the NFL, as have I, but I was wondering....Do you think that TO deserves to be in the HOF?

I lean towards yes because of his stats, but at the same time I lean towards a LARGER NO because of the way he played the game. Bad ethics and behavior has put a large black cloud over his head for the voters.

This is his 3rd year of eligibility to get voted in.

Other possibles are Brian Urlacher, Randy Moss and the infamous Ray Lewis, which I think will be a first time ballot winner!

Personally, I don't think off field antics should have anything to do with the hof. That is for the players that were the some of the best on field performers of their day. TO was an absolute horror for defenses. He could jump like a basketball player, and could hit you like a fullback. I wasn't a fan of all the off field bull **** he brought to the table, but I still believe he has earned his spot in the hall.

He should have been a first ballot HOFer. Dude was a beast on the field. Off the field is just that, off the field. Ray Lewis pretty much had a hand in a murder and he's probably going in on his first try. He was the greatest LB of his generation.

I agree with what you guys are saying, but this is from Chris Carter...

"Terrell Owens should be in the Hall of Fame as a first ballot, given the numbers. But now, they came up with some criteria that now the locker room is an extension of the playing field, and we had never ever heard that before."

Does this affect him? Remember, he has to have 80% of the votes from 48 people.....Therefore, does that black cloud affect his chances?

If Lewis goes in Owens should go in. If you hold Owens accountable for his off the field behavior then you certainly have to hold Lewis to the same accountability. My guess is Lewis in and Owens out. Just another reason not to like or watch the NFL and their hypocrisy.

If TO goes, so does Moss. And I'm not sure they will put 2 WRs in during the same year. Based on numbers, which is what it should be, he is a no brainer to get in.

I just hope the best non drafted cornerback makes it. #Wallstothehall

#2 receiver of all time...tied with Moss

He should have been a 1st ballot HOFer....

D Bag YES.....
but being a **** shouldn't keep you out of the HOF.

He could have played another 2 or 3 years had he not been blackballed by the league

That's a matter of opinion...

And the 2nd part is flatly untrue. If he was blackballed, he did it to himself by being such a cancer to EVERY team he was ever on. That's part of football too.

TO should be in based on stats.

Being a ***** to the media and your teammates shouldn't keep you out of the HOF.

As stated, there are guys in the HOF that did a heck of a lot more than being a *****. Heck, from a law enforcement side of things, didn't TO stay out of trouble for the most part?

Physically, he could have played a couple of more years. He wouldn't have been dominant, but he would he would have been able to be productive. Would he have been worth the potential headache to be a dang good 3rd option? Maybe, but no one was going to take a chance and find out.

Being a good team mate is an integral part of the game. It should matter.

Maybe if he wasn't such an ******* for a team mate, he'd have a super bowl ring...he was on teams that got close a couple times.

The NFL has never let off the field issues affect HOF status. The hall has lots of bad character guys, and drug users in there. Ray Lewis is a no brainer to make it. If character mattered guys like Lawrence Taylor and many others wouldn't be in there. Isn't O J Simpson in the HOF?

If you can cut the heads off two people and still be in the HOF i don't think TO has to worry

They should snub Moss this year and put TO through.

Randy Moss has admitted to taking plays off and playing when he felt like it. You can argue many things about TO’s character, but the dude gave 100% all the time.

OJ was in the hof before he killed them wasn't he? If he was being voted on this go round, he wouldn't make it most likely.

Now, character and off the field stuff is taken into account. It doesn't have anything to do with you being a football player.

The only character portion that should be considered is, as mentioned above in another post, how good a teammate you are.

I never said he wasn't a bad *** receiver, definitely HOF worthy talent.

The matter of opinion is whether being a horrible team mate, and whiney ***** should keep him out. I think it should, it won't.

Is that plain enough for you?

He was but he should have been a 1st ballot or 2nd at worst.

Here are the 5 modern era 1st ballot wide receivers.

Jerry Rice

1973: Raymond Berry

1978: Lance Alworth

1983: Paul Warfield

1995: Steve Largent

Randy Moss will probably be the 6th.

I don't think the NFL HOF specifies a team, but if anything he should have the disgrace of going in as an eagle.

The whole 1st ballot thing is just stupid. You are either a Hall of Famer or not. There is no special section for players that make it on their first year of eligibility
