A man can never do without to many beer boxes. If ya have to walk to far to another, you could stumble and fall. And potentially break something more than a beer glass. And we couldn't have that now could we? Better safe than sorry.

This is flat out awesome. I'm trying to do something similar at my place, but a lot of the contractors/masons are using an engineered kit (firerock insert) and then finishing out the exterior with stone of choice. Dale - did you consider using anything similar or have any experience/recommendation with the inserts ?

Yes I did, and I'd have used one of those if we currently had one in our line. I really like those products.
