Where do you buy your seed for your fall planting?

I bought my radishes from Welter's seed in Iowa. I buy oats and cereal rye from Producers Co-op in Bryan. And I buy my clover from Cooper seed or if I find it on sale at tractor supply or other places.

Thanks sir. My kids go to college in Abilene so I'm thinking about having them run over to Turner Seed in Breckinridge for me and then bring it the next time they come home.

Hung a new set today over a new feeder location. 22 yards to feeder. I hung it in an elm tree and there must have been a billion fire ants all over that tree. I got bit maybe 50 times hanging it. But its in a perfect location so I had to man up.

Had to move one of my previous stands because the old post oak died it was hung in.

My plots need a rain. I planted oats, AWP's, Groundhog radishes, and white/red/crimson clover on 9/18. A few radishes and oats are up but not much else has germinated. We are supposed to have a big rain this weekend so hopefully we'll get soaked.

Hope you get some rain. Doing food plots last year really sucked for us, lost all interest in doing them this year.

Hope that yours works out for you, and be careful with those ants. lol

First hunt of the year this morning. Had 4 does bust me downwind early. Then I had two regulars show up and eat at the feeder for half an hour.

Saw another doe and fawn and that was it.

The plots look good. They have been up a week since the rain last saturday.

Overall it doesn't look too had for just one week. I planted oats/awp's in one section and radish in the middle and oats/clover in the last section...all in one plot.

They've been eating the oats pretty good.....this is regular oats not Buck Forage Oats. I can't pay 3 times the money for the same result.... See how they square off the tips when they eat it.

                          Thanks.

The groundhog radishes (daikon radishes) are an experiment this year to see how well deer eat them. They've never seen them before so it may take a while.....(even more than one season maybe) to get them to eat it.

They are great for the soil...the radish bulbs get 18" long and really pulls minerals to the surface where it can be used better. The help break up compaction and aerates the soil really well.

The hogs have trampled thru this plot but it still holding up very well. I'l continue to update with pics and how well the plots are getting browsed.

Just came across this thread. Very interesting. We planted 100 acres of oats two weeks ago down south; have always wanted to grow more...where is this?

I'm in Burleson County just north of Lake Somerville.

Wow 100 Acres! That's big time. Heck my farm is not even 100 acres....
I like trying new things and seeing what works best. In fact I think I like food plotting almost as much as hunting!
