Yep, I like a case for a pocket knife but for a hunting knife love my havalon.

Folding knife with locking 3-4" blade. Mainly gutting and skinning.

Case and Queen for pocket knives. Queen uses tool steel. Queen also has some hunting knives with that same tool steel. Or get a Buck 119.

I don't know how good the quality of their knives are anymore but if they're anything like they once were I'd get a Cold Steel.

I’m not sure folders make the best skinning and gutting knives? I always think the pivot and locking mechanism would get full of good stuff and cleaning them would be a bit of a bear. The one that springs to mind mostly because of its ease of stripping it down for cleaning is the CRKT Homefront. One of the best all round edc knives is the Spyderco Endura 4 but I don’t think the blade shape would be best for skinning. Have fun searching, it is the best part of the process after all!
