Question Old Geezer Question

Is it just me or does everyone sleep less the older they get? I average about five hours of sleep a night. I usually wake up at the same time to whiz and then never really go back to sleep. Sux getting old, but it better than the alternative!
A doctor friend of mine told me the super beta prostate was “snake oil” and not to waste money on it. He is urologist btw.

I'm in the same boat.
Except yesterday! Didn't get up till 830.
I was up at 630 today. I'm usually up at 5

I'm only 40 but have been going to bed between 9-10pm and waking up at 6am everyday for years. I slept in this morning until 6:45am.

What's old?
I'm 40 and 5hrs of sleep is average for me as well.
Been that way my whole life though.
Go to bed around midnight and up around 4:30-5 every morning.

Yep. I tried taking melatonin, but hard to wake up. Take a Benadryl occasionally now
Only advice I have is more exercise and less fluids before bed
Naps keep me from going to sleep early. Personally I like to awake about dawn, whenever that is.

Same here. Benadryl occasionally. Got out of the service and was never able to sleep late again. My wife can sleep on demand. I can’t take a nap either or it keeps me awake at night. And it seems like what doesn’t hurt doesn’t work either.

I used to get up at 4am for 35 years...that is all over with now. Bad at 9pm.
Now I go to bed about 11, up at 630-7ish. I seem to be sleeping a bit longer now that I am retired. Occasional pee pee wake ups....usually from beer nights .

I’m 44 and I wake up everydaybetwren 5 and 5:30 pretty much every morning. Used to not be that way, seems like the past couple years it has though. My wife hates it cause I don’t always get out of bed and will most of the time wake her up too.

I get about 5 to 7 hours a night but thanks to my c-pap I feel rested most of the time. The only time I don't feel rested is when I'm under a lot of stress from work or whatever and don't sleep deeply.

Just now see-n the title . How dare you bring up such an offensive title! And on behalf of all GOFs, and as acting secretary of our GOF.org, I demand on behalf of both Burnadell our acting Prez, and Leonhogboy our VP, that you rename the title of this here thread! Or face the consequence of the nightmare of all TBH GOF members! (it can be a stinky mess)

My dad would stay up till 1-2 in the morning. Go to bed and get up about 5 every morning. Everyday he would take a nap from 12-3 religiously. He lived to be 88 and took care of my mom the last eight years of his life. You’d think he was running on empty but that was his routine.

Old geezers? Specifically, to whom are you referring?

I see a bunch of 40 year olds responded. So does old and geezer go together, or are they mutually exclusive? . To respond, I never seem to get enough sleep and have always had to force myself to wake up. My bladder control was excellent until I had 35 radiation treatments for prostate cancer a year ago. That irritated my bladder “valve” and my colon, so now I have to get up a couple of times a night to pee.

Sleep questions can open a great ole big can of worms, it's affected by different phases of light, internal body processes, what you eat, and a couple a hunnert other things. Simply put get your thyroid checked thatsusually where the problem is?

I have been making edibles with about 300 mg of CBD/THC. I use cannabutter in the recipes.
I cut the edibles into 15mg pieces.

One piece about twenty minutes from bedtime and it’s lights out a few minutes after hitting the pillow. I’m able to get a 7-8 hours of solid sleep.
I was getting up three to four times a night with prostate issues. I don’t have that problem anymore.

Our realtor in Colorado actually places a drop of c b d oil behind each ear at night and swears by it. Says it really helps her sleep. Her husband of 30 years passed away and she was struggling with sleeplessness until she was told about c b d oil.

I take a Saw Palmetto capsule and a AZO Cranberry capsule five days a week as natural prostate and bladder health maintenance. You know, an ounce of prevention sort of thing. I rarely have to get up to pee during the night. When I do, I either fall back to sleep easily, or it's almost time for me to get up anyway. I'm only 58, though. So I guess I'll just have to see if it's still working when I reach geezer status.

I sleep pretty good. Depends on if my brain will shut off and let me. I have to pee 1 time at about 3:00am. My alarm goes off at 4:00am. I've been getting at 4:00 for so long, even on my days off I will have a cup of coffee in my hand by 4:30. Sleeping late to me is 5:00.

Sailor which box type bed did you buy. I am looking to buy one. As far as sleep goes I was getting up 6-7 times a night to try and go to the bathroom. I was getting very little sleep and it was dragging me down. Went to my doctor recommended a urologist. After lots of testing turned out a prostate issue. After surgery I sllep s good. But I need a new bed so I was wondering what box type you bought.

I do not sleep worth a crap. Up 2, 3 maybe 4 times per night to pee, but there are times I wake up and cannot get back to sleep. Not sure what to do. Any suggestions. I am 66 and retiring in May!

Mud I was told not to drink anything past 6pm if I wanted to stay asleep. I think a lot of us have the same issues as far as being able to shut our brain off and keep it. Haven’t figured out how to do it. Last night acid reflux literally kept me up and down all night. It was so bad that I had to take two omeprazoles. I think I dozed off around 2:00 a m and got up at six to wiz.
