Default In need of a side hustle

At my current job I work 4 on 4 off. I want something I can do on my days off that I will enjoy and will bring in a little extra cash. I can reload ammo, and I have everything I need to build ar15s. Iíve got a nice work bench where I could make something to sell but I just donít have any idea of what to make or where to start. So, letís hear the ideas! What have yíall done and what is something that yíall would want someone to make or sell. Letís hear the side hustle ideas!

Overtime list at work?

I thought about side jobs, even worked at Gander Mountain part time a few years ago. But I can work 1 day of OT at work and make more than I would all my days off on a side job.

If your still young it’s wide open for you. The sky is the limit. Find a void or your passion and see if there is a market for it. I posted a thread called old Geezer side hustles not too far back and got a lot of good ideas of of that. You might try to locate it.

Have you checked the nail salons? They are always looking for manicurists and foot massagers/toenail cutters.

I hear being a drug mule is pretty lucrative and gets you in elk hunting shape.

Gunsmith. Customer purchases lower and brings to you for assembly/completion.

The Feds thought about that also. I think what you described is still manufacturing but you also need an FFL to do gunsmithing legally.

Will still need conditional use permit & tax ID along with Smithing FFL...same exact situation other than saving $$$ on the mfg lic. to do legally.

Cutting grass is easy money, if you aint soft. $1 a minute, minimum. Just remember, don't be a jerk, sometimes you might need to cut a yard for free, lot of needy people out there.

Over the years we’ve had a number of part time guys in our cabinet shop. Sometimes they just do maintenance, small service work and cleaning, some run machines or help with finishing. A lot of small companies under 30-40 people love having a little part time help, as long as it’s reliable and consistent. My wife’s uncle is retired, but pulls wire a few mornings a week for a low voltage and security company and does some system design and testing when he’s looking to buy some new toys. There are a ton of us out there turning work down because we just can’t find the manpower.

I keep seeing ads for online surveys. Seems to be a legitimate way to turn your down time into a little bit of cash.

I can definitely give you a lot of ideas man but it'd be great if you can help to narrow down the list. What are the things you enjoy doing the most? what are your current hobbies or projects that you worked on in the past and really enjoyed? What are your best skills in general, in what you excel?

I love anything gun related. I love building and working on guns, reloading ammo, teaching others to shoot, and Iím entering a 3 gun competition here in March. I was kinda wanting this side hustle to be something I could do to actually take a little time away from work doing something I enjoy but make a little cash in the process to fund my other hobbies.. If that makes sense.

well the first thing that comes to mind is to visit your local shooting range and gun clubs and ask if they need an instructor

On the ammo you’re correct. Don’t need a type 07 for “building AR’s” though. Unless you are stamping serial numbers you are not manufacturing you’re just being a gunsmith.

I have my type 07 FFL and I do sell ammo that I build for individual rifles. It’s not a bad business to be but it takes a while to build the reputation that you have to have to make money at it.
