Call steve's custom props in quitman tx or b&b props in north richland hills, tx. They are both really good at what they do. What exactly is it that you need help with?

I think Steve sold out. Powertech in Shreveport would be a good one. Tell them what you have they'll tell you what you need!

I have a 16’ shoalwater tunnel hull with a 2013 Tohatsu 50 . When I get up on plane if I touch the trim button to trim it out she cavitates and revs up and slows the boat . It has a stainless power tech 10.5 with 13 pitch . It’s a ***** when she is constantly blowing out .

Your jack plate sounds too high. To help, add an anti-cavitation plate, that's what I am doing. This way you can still run your prop up/run skinny

Jackplate is on order . The cavitation plate is just a **** hair about the tunnel , thatís how I was told to mount it .

If your prop has ventilation holes in the hub make sure all the inserts are there. One in each hole.

Got the jackplate installed , and took it out yesterday and it’s still cavitation for . Went ahead and ordered a cougar Marine cavition plate . I also talked to Jack Forman at crossroad propellers in Port Lavaca he seems to think a new prop can fix the problems we shall see . I’m gonna try the plate first if that doesn’t work I’ll pull the bot down to him ..

Look for a used SS prop. What did he say was wrong with your prop? Glad you ordered a cavitation plate, it is a must with the tunnel. I have also found a four blade will hold better on some tunnels. Also some extra cup will help stop blowout.

I have a buddy, same boat, same problem. He has tried props, plates, and everything he can think of. Plate made it turn sharper but still cavitates. Jack plate has to be 2.5 or lower to plane out. If you find a solution, he will be very happy.

I know brother, I think it has to do with the tunnel design on that length of boat, but I have good news, the prop guru himself, Chuck McKenny, just called and is going to come by my office in a minute. I will discuss with him.

No jack plate with a tunnel and you need some cup in your prop.

Basically what Chuck just told me. He said buy a new prop and have a Flats Cup put on it. He also said within the year he will have a new prop out that will basically turn any lower unit into a TRP.

https://turningpointpropellers.com/PROPWIZARD/

this is an easy to use prop wizard. lots of factors/options you can input. i had a spun prop and decided to buy a new aluminum one as a backup. i did the prop wizard and got the Hustler prop model number. Found it for $42 on walmart.com and the hub was $21 (lifetime guarantee on the hub).

Even if you don't buy their props, it can tell you blades, pitch, diameter, etc.

This is why I warned you about Jack being very direct. His props are expensive as in anything on a boat. Once you buy he will make sure you are happy once
you leave. A good prop can make all the difference once you are dialed in. You can have someone add cup for $200 or so but it may or may not help at all depending on what you started with.

Yeah he was very direct but not in a bad way , Iím a novice when it comes to flats boats or how they are suppose to be setup . I also talked to powertech and they recommended a prop . Think Iím gonna go with one of theirs and see if it helps from their tech guys description it will be like Velcro in the water ..

Have you tried or do you have room to drop your motor down an inch? Even though it's a tunnel it sounds like motor is sitting too high. Your prop isn't allowing any lift in the bow. I saw where you redid the floor also, if with the new floor the bow could be too heavy. Redistribute all your loose weight towards the rear of the boat to keep the front as light as possible. 4 blade prop usually gives more bite and bow lift.
