Actually I think the grammar police are jealous of genuine native Texans and it's their way of trying to shame us Texans into becoming yankees.
Before y'all go to hollern about being Texans too, I been here for 60 yrs, and I remember when even the bankers and lawyers talked like I do, and them foreigners was runnin' around then complainin' about how it made us sound uneducated, it could be that Texas is an education unto itself.

My dad's minor was English, so my little sister and I caught grammar hell! He would have a fit reading most of the threads on here. He hated when people said "my bad" when they messed up. He would say "your bad what........grammar?" I still make several grammar mistakes though. What gets me is when people say "I gotta get ME ....... (whatever it is they need)." The "me" is not needed there, but grown people don't like to be corrected on how they talk! I let people talk how they want and I talk how I want.

I have a buddy from the Northeast who always laughs at me because I pronounce 2×4 like twobafour. The first time he heard it, he asked me, with this strange look on his face, what's a twobafour. I laughed and told him that I've been giving him too much credit. I thought everybody knew what a tuba was for.
