Default Binocular pictures

Iíve always taken photos of animals thru my binoculars using all generations of iPhones. However...I have a X now and it goes black screen whenever I try putting it up to binos. Just about the time I get focused...poof it turns black.
Iíve tried flash off...& flash on. No help.
Any suggestions ?

Wingspan makes a monocular that clips to your phone for pictures. Look that up and buy one. Super neat idea and works great. Much easier than trying to line up on binoculars.
