We arrive at the stand that afternoon and the wind is dead wrong for the pop up so we decided we would move it since we were still plenty early and hope it wouldn't affect the deer's behavior that evening....it didn't. I had the same pretty young buck from the first evening come in with 8 does and fawns. The only deer that didn't show back up was the "malo" management dee that I was looking for. About 5:00 he shows and I get the green light via radio and let a Grizz Trick do its thing. Again a quartering away shot at 24 yards. He jumped up and face planted and gathered himself and made it 45 yards before tipping over. Unfortunately I didn't get this shot on film since I had given my camera to my dad to try and get his trophy on film. 2 arrow and 2 REALLY memorable trophies down in Old Mexico.
Day 3 came to a close with another hunter in camp taking a nice 183" "bura" with a rifle and we all celebrated. My dad had 1 more day to get it done. We all went and scouted for him the next morning and didnt see much. He had hunted the same stand 3.5 days and had been having lots of activity. The morning of the last day he got skunked and it left him with a decision. Stick it out and stay with the same stand or head to another blind that my brother had seen a nice deer bedded near the pop up that morning.
He elected to go back and hunt "San Juan" where he hunted the entire trip. They dropped me at the rifle stand I killed at which was 1.5 miles away at 1:55. At 2:20 I see the truck pull up and my dad gets out and he tells me I forgot my water bottle and starts walking towards the rifle stand. I knew he wouldn't of driven back to give me my water bottle so I knew something was up. He then climbs up the stand and tells me that he had actually shot his deer but hit is far back and was sick over it. They called the ranch house to get a rifle to take up the track. Vello, my dads guide couldn't get ahold of anyone at camp and he drove the 25 minutes back to camp and got reinforcements and 2 guns. We head back to his stand with 9 people and begin the track. Vello, Everisto and my dad lead the way and we trail them by about 50 yards. We go to where the deer entered the brush and found the arrow about 50 yards from where he was last seen. I was nervous because the arrow had a lot of fat on it and a moderate amount of blood. We continued across the dry creek bed and found my dads deer piled up not 150 yards from where he shot him. We see his 300 lb heavy 4x4 laying under a tree.

This put the exclamation point on an already incredible trip. We took pictures till we couldn't see straight and headed back to camp to get all of our stuff together for our early departure the next morning. It total we had six hunters and we took the following:
Me: 183" trophy and a management buck
Brother: 165" trophy
Dad: 178" trophy
Rifle Hunter #1: 183" trophy
Rifle Hunter #2: 176" trophy
Rifle Hunter#3: no kill
Great trip with a lifetime full of memories. Can't wait to go back. Here are some miscellaneous pics of the house etc.
