Need some age help on this West Texas buck

Thoughts on this deer's age would be greatly appreciated.

Note: This picture was taken in the month of December from a previous year

Once we get some thoughts on his age I will post a picture from this year as a comparison!
Another note: I don't know the age of the deer in either picture so this isn't a test, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I would say a healthy 5 year old this year. Last years picture is a bit deceiving as it looked cold that night and he's all bristled up.

Then I'd say he is 7.5 this year.

Thought this wasnt a test? If that pic was from ‘14, then youve got an older deer than I see. 1st pic I wouldnt put him any older than 4 and no younger than 3. This year hes at least 5 but I dont see anything making me think too much older than 5 maybe 6 with the given picture.

It's not a test in the regard of me knowing how old this deer actually is.. that was the whole purpose of me posting this here was with help on the age!

I’d say 2 in first pic and 6 now. That summer coat is shedding off, good luck.

Thanks everyone for their input! It looks like this buck will qualify as a management for our lease. Hopefully we can get this guy out of the herd before he starts passing on these genetics!

I don't know if that's the same buck but the one this year is at least 6.5
