4-H Archery Range Grand Opening
The Tom Green County 4-H Archery
Club will host a 3D archery tournament during the grand opening of their new facility, located at 3444 N. U.S. Highway 277 on Saturday, Sept. 19. Registration will take place on site before the 8 a.m. start time with a $10 fee for members and $15 for nonmembers.
Twenty 3D targets will be set up for competition in age and bow classes. The age class competition will include Junior (8-10), Intermediate (11-13), Senior (14-18), Adults (19 and over), Senior (over 62) and Women (19 and over).
Bow class completion will include Traditional (4-H and adult), Compound aided (4-H only), Genesis/NASP (4-H only), Open and Hunter Compound (Adults), Traditional Adult and Hunter Compound. Awards will be presented around noon to the top three competitors in each category.
“Nonmember contestants, the public and anyone with an interest in the Tom Green County 4-H archery club are invited to attend,” said head coach Mark Barta.
The club had 87 members during the last semester. Concessions will be available with all proceeds benefiting the 4-H archery club.
So where is the facility? Just look for the red Tom Green County 4-H Shooting Sports sign beside the Roy K. Robb Corrections Facility — about a quarter mile beyond the 4-H Building and the Animal Shelter.
