    By lowering the Fed Rate and therefore rates that banks pay to one another when borrowing to maintain their reserves, it has the positive effect of increasing the money supply, making it easier and cheaper, primarily for businesses/corporations to borrow for expansion, growth, create more jobs, etc.
    Might have to explain to the youngsters.
