Shot placement from a treestand on animals

i was wondering if thier was a zone on a deer to shoot that would help you get a good kill shot.

As I was told 4 years ago aim for the exit hole.

      Does that work for you?

You must visualize the shot, before pulling the trigger. Like the entrance wound and exit wound, and try to get them vitals.

x2. that is what i have been told and how i do it. Seems it work really well. Aim for the exit hole with the vitals in a direct line between the entrance and exit angle-

When a deer or hog steps out, whether i shoot or not, I am constantly thinking about the best shot placement-

Exit hole from the shot. Visualize the shot through the deer and aim for that spot.

Yep, aim for the exit. Put your pin where you want the arrow to exit the animal. Visualize the arrow going through the target and make sure you are hitting the vitals you want to his. I generally aim for the opposite side elbow. Harder to do than to say (I apparently messed up on that just two weeks ago), so set up a target and practice from the tree.

The "Dead Deer Walkin'" shot placement DVD is excellent on this subject.

And correct me if I'm wrong but aim a little low. The distance from up in that tree is not the same as the distance measured from the base of that tree to the spot where the animal is... it's shorter.

which is why you aim for the exit.
