1/19/2012:

Went to Tractor Supply, saw "Block Topper" reduced to $2.99. Thought why not. Purchased 50lb salt block for $4.99. Went to new spot, found intersection where 5 heavy traffic travel paths crossed. Installed as prescribed. Bury 1/2, pour powder all around, then pour liquid over. Set up Trophy Cam. Will check in 1 week.

Well got bored & checked the camera on Saturday. I walk up to see absolutely no "topper" product left. I am thinking, woohoo, yeah buddy! I open the camera to find 2 pictures on the card. Here they are. One from the first day, one from the last day before getting card. Trophy Cams have never let us down before, don't know what happened. Aliens delete the card because the love block topper and can't let their secret out? Who knows. Didn't bring another camera, so I left that one out there with a new card. The place is a little out of the way so I'll bring another camera out there later I guess. Probably just set it up on some corn. At least something ate it, but it's still pretty darn irritating having 2 pictures, before & after.

No rain during that time span. The leaves were all tracked up too. It was very heartbreaking. Haha. But maybe I'll live.

I hate when a trail cam does that.

Its happpened to me a few times. All of the corn gone within two pics but no pics on what ate the corn. Frustrating and funny at the same time

i use block topper alot it works for me the deer will eat a wholr mineral bock within a month

This experiment pretty much went bust due to camera battery issues. Turns out the batteries in the camera were getting low. Took almost 10 months of very heavy usuage (everyweek taking pictures) to get the energizer lithium AAs to give up. Impressive. Although I don't know what tore it up- some kind of animal went to town on the topper. It was gone within the first 4 days, all that was left was the salt block. The salt block took a real beating during the last 3 weeks (of pretty much continual rain here).

the topping usually dissipates and only leaves a scent. I find that if you put the topper on a mineral rock instead of a salt block it works better
