Yep, we still have to shoot as well as possible, but whitetails are quick -- I know I've had two duck arrows at 17 and 19 yards in the past couple of years. One reason I went to a heavier bow.

Rick, didn't you find a study that said a whitetail deer can drop eight inches, turn 90 degrees and be running at full speed in something like 25 hundredths of a second? Nothing defenseless about those critters.

The study said 21/100ths of one second.

              Thanks, CRM.
DRT, those are great shots. Just barely -- but spot-on consistently -- up.

Shot it today, about 6-8" low. I'll try it again tomorrow.

I'm thinking 30 is still a little outside my effective kill range.

Those are all kill zone shots, DRT. That's just a small piece of paper.

But, generally, 30 is too far for most to hunt with trad equipment. Not that it's not possible to place a killing shot; there's just too much time for an animal to move. Still like the call for its value in forcing good form practice.

Lol. I don't expect to take 30 yard shots even when I hunt with a compound. Not that I'm sure that will ever happen again. I like em close.

Finally one in the paper. Just a smidge under 1&7/8". I will be heading out for a trip down the Brazos with my scout troop and venturing crew for the weekend later today. Won't be home until Sunday afternoon. Whomever wins this thing figure it out and get next week up.

Decided to dump the quiver to finish the abbreviated practice session and my usual tendency shows up. As the quiver empties I must drop my bow arm. May need to take longer between arrows.

                              Good shot, DRT!
Nice group, as well. Have fun on the Scout trip.
