Grass ID

What kind of grass is this in my yard, and how do I get rid of it? It is very hard to cut, unless the mower blades are very sharp. My dad used to call it wire grass.

Some type of fescue I'm thinking ? Take a pic of the whole plant, stalk and leaves and try the Pl@ntNet app. It's free and has IDed a few things for me.

Definitely not nutsedge. We've got that in the back yard. Nutsedge is easy to cut and has much thicker blade's. This has very thin blades, but is like mowing wire.

Looks like spear grass. Not sure how to get rid of it. Keep it mowed short and let the real grass choke it out?

We don't have an issue with sand burrs if we keep it mowed once a week. The ditch, that I can't mow completely, is another story.
