Some are a little older than they look

We have seen this buck on our place and he was always at a certain feeder. I invite one of my cousins to come hunt him thinking he was on our “not ever going to make a trophy” list and “eats way to much corn for his bone” list. Nice deer and a good bow target. I had him at 4 years old 125 but did not recognize him from previous years. He is the one in the fore ground.

Then another pic of him looked quite a bit different.

What are your thoughts on age? Full disclosure , I will post his jaw bone later.

Mature deer like him are hard to judge but with that block head, sway back and knotty knees I’d guess 5.5+ for sure.

I’m equally as impressed with that freaking feeder brother.

He has a gut on him. I would guess he was 5.5

You should have put this thread up without giving away that he was older than 4, I would have been interested to see how many people would have called him younger then.

I say 8-9. Body of an old deer without the neck of a prime mature buck.

His rumen was full and contained full leaves and twigs. The old boy could only eat corn and protein I suppose. Based on the jawbone I would estimate approx 10 year’s old. ( I thought about 14 but ....

I would have said 6 but man that body looks healthy to be that old.
