I love the old Chevys. I had a 57 step side with the wrap around back glass when I was in high school. Sold it when I started hot rodding a camaro I bought

Slow start...day after posting this I went to San Antonio a few days for convention. Had a great time and I won 25 dollars and wife won 500 grand prize in drawings- . She wouldn't trade !

Finally pulled the 5 window cab over to the house/shop. It was at my old house across the creek about a mile away.

Had a 59 for about 6 years, got divorce way back when had to sell to pay child support. Money well spent but I sure miss that old truck. LOOKING GOOD keep saving them.

54 has to be my favorite year for those old chevy trucks. Have one getting working on in san antonio right now. Worked on it for 2 years and got everything done but the body work and then it was over our heads. Subscribed and keeping track of this one.

Few questions though. You going to keep it original as possible on the outside with the styling or you going to cut on it and have it lowered, add modern tail lights blinkers, add a mirror to the passenger side? Fancy rims or old style stock? Either way it is going to turn out sharp but it always tears at the heart to see folks bust out the torch on those old trucks as they aren't making any more of them.

54 is cream of crop to me- grill makes them pop way more to me than the flat bar grills. No comparison to ME!

Spare tire cutout has already been flipped and filled on old red, - gas tank removed and filler filled from cab on old red. Will do same with this gas tank and remove from cab for sure.

No desire to chop it. Friend recently did that and chopped cab and doors and lost interest and sold like a 49 or so. Love the old fat fender look -

I been reading and watching tons of videos, etc.

Where I'm at is thinking ill tear down and strip/ dip whatever to save a lot of labor. Take to pro for finish paint and body in pieces for under side etc then again when all put together-
I'll do frame clean up, firewall fill, mechanical etc

54 five window was my first truck - hope to have another one some day. Looking forward to watching yours come along.

                            1954 Chevy - Restore...somewhat DIY

Today we got the donor cab truck into the shop. Amazingly the tires held air but the rear wheels are locked up - will invest or make some veh dollies this week

Kate pulled it in shop since my 1/2 ton truck wouldn't move it

Trey pushed it in with tractor as lifting rear with loader forks -

Once in shop we started cleaning it out - Tons of nasty crap in there -

Pulled the factory seats and mounting frame. Won't be using any of that. Trying to decide to scrap, throw in another old cab to keep or try and sell some of this stuff I will never use. Don't know if much demand or not. Tank has holes in it

Wire brushed a few iffy spots and still solid good steel. Floor board needs some work but will address all that once cab off completely
