Bear pistol?

I am thinking about getting a good pistol as a backup if I were bow hunting western states. I was thinking maybe a revolver, something lightweight, but a long enough barrel to be accurate, and be good defense against bears/mountain lions. Anybody have any suggestions?

well....if your bowhunting or not and guided in Alaska the guide will have a BFG.....but bigger the better I guess

I'd suggest a 44 mag like a Taurus, S & W, or Ruger. Loaded with a good 240 grain JHP or a 300 grain hard cast if big brownies are in the area.

Yes but I am paranoid and if something is going to kill me I'm gonna go in a hail of gunfire. It's just comforting, ill have to look up a lot of these suggestions thanks
