Looking for a new dog

I’m looking to get a second blood dog. I’m interested in a lacy/hound cross. If anyone knows where I can find one I would appreciate it. I’d prefer both parents be proven working dogs

Sorry to continue the hi-jack of your thread.

I use full blood hounds only. Coon hounds. I'm partial to blueticks. As tracks are old and cold, hounds trail silent unless, or until, making eye contact with non-dead deer, then they're vocal. That's a very good thing.

As for stubborn, that depends on perspective. Hounds aren't actually stubborn, they just view the world differently than an eager to please dog, say a lab. When a lab hears a command, the lab thinks "Yes boss, anything you say boss, tell me something else to do that will make you like me!" Conversely, a hound would think, "Uhhhh...what's in it for me?" Knowing this trait, a knowledgeable dog trainer alters his methods and approach.

A hound is a natural tracker. That's what they do. You don't have to train them to track, only what to track.

If you're in a situation where you can get on the blood trail within a few hours, then you'll seldom need the expertise of a hound. In that case, get a poodle or something because any dog can track a freash trail. But, if you're like me with a full time job, and it could be a few days before you can get there, then the cold nose of a hound is a great asset.

If you need evidence for trainability, look for my Facebook page, Top Of Texas Tracking, and check video of 8 week old hound pup. Hounds are easily trained. Just require the right approach.

I only know 1 guy who has lacy with some hound mix. Let me check and see if he minds me giving out his info.

I have lacy /hound crosses. Do your home work and everyone has an opinion no ones opinions will match up take advice from the right people then do your own thing good luck

Just giving praise for hounds. Didn't mean for that sound like I'm against Lacys. Not at all, just look around.

I want the hound because of it’s cold nose capabilities but I want the lacy crossed into it because they scent from the air better. Lacies are also originated from cow dogs so they bay from the ground isntead of grabbing. Just my theory on what I want, but a hound could very well makes it’s way into my dog box also

I've ran walkers most of my life. Hounds are bred to track and tree. Some are silent on track and some are not. Depends on the breed and individual dog. Every dog breed is a specialist at certain tasks. Just about any dog can be trained to blood trail, but a hound will be a specialist at tracking. Like already stated that's what they do. Cold trails and long distances no problem.

I’m thinkin about getting a full plott this weekend if I can get the correct contact info for the guy. What are yalls tboughts? It’s out of some hog parents. I really want a lacy plott mix there just real hard to find. I’m on the wait list for one by no guarantee I’ll get one. Id like to have the dog started by next October
