Do horses count? I dont have any cows either, but used to ride roughstock years back. I do occasionally wear a cap even though I don't play baseball.

      What I've been taught
No straw between Labor Day and Easter
Never put a hat on a bed (bad luck)
      Never wear another mans hat
Always set a hat on the crown so the luck doesn't run out
      Never at the table
And if a woman puts your hat on then...

Dont wear one with bedazzled or flapped back pocketed jeans unless you got a cupcake!

Rule #1. Tip it when greeting ladies.

if you are a man with an earring, dont ever put one on.

              off at the table.

never hire a guy with a grass hat. when you need him most, he will be chasin' his hat.

I’ve never heard to stop at Easter.

Make sure you're a cowboy before putting one on?

There is a grandfather clause if you in fact owned or worked cows or horses in the past

The whole straw hat/felt hat in the winter is silly. If it hot during the winter I’m wearing my straw if it’s cold my Felt. That one cliche/tradition has to be one of the dumbest... especially in Texas and southern US
