We shot some rabbits last year when spotlighting and when we took them to the dump the next morning these things had come out and were in the back of the truck. Nasty looking little suckers

Nothing wrong with the meat. Killed and ate many rabbits that had Bot Fly larvae.

Wolves. After a few good cold spells they will be free of them. Sometimes it doesn't get cold enough in Texas and they'll have them all year. Oldtimers would say only shoot rabbits in months with a "R" in them to insure they won't have wolves, but that doesn't work always.

Yeah normally not in cold weather but the meat is fine.

Don't know about wolves but up north we were told to always check for spots on a rabbits liver in months with an r. Spots were supposed to be a sign of tulermenia(sp) a disease. Wouldn't eat a rabbit with a spotted liver.

Grandma would slowly fry the rabbit in Bacon grease or lard. She made a gravy and served it all with homemade biscuits. Made a good breakfast. Essential cast iron skillet.
                              Squirrels got the same treatment.

Don't any of you ever watch "Monsters Inside Me" now that is where you can see some Parasite host wanting you.
