    A day if firsts....

    First hunt at new lease
    First hunt of the year
First deer kill of the new lease
First deer bow kill (shot on the ground after 1 1/2 hours of displaying poise and patience that dad can only dream of)

Children are such a blessing. Thank you Lord for this young man that calls me dad.

    Congratulations @Warpig

                          Awesome!

How far you make him drag that saucer head while you took pics?

She hit the scales at almost #115. Dead weight I "allowed" him to drag about 300 yards to the road...and he loved every minute of it

we had this doe and her yearling on us for about 1 1/2 hours they circled many times, closed within 15 yards about 4 times but there was never a shot. Finally i heard "turn on camera" in a whispered voice. Mom ma was about 18 yards away and quartered, Marshall threaded an arrow after being at full draw for close to a minute. She ran off a bit but we heard her crash and kick about 60 yards due south of us.

Truly a wonderful time. We have not hunted much in the past 5 years and he has let me know. Going back to school, ministry and life has a way of blinding you to lifes joys.

He will graduate HS this spring, head to boot camp after enlisting for 6 year turn in the Army Reserves. Upon completion of his degree(s) and ROTC classes, will receive a commission as a 2nd LT and head of to active duty...only God knows where.

Love'em while you can men, they grow and go way to fast.

Reflecting on today...I know that I am truly blessed by an awesome God.
