    Great horned owls

Two of which are babies. This was at Brazos Bend SP, Needville.

Mama's droopy eye and "horn" is said to be caused by a fight with a bobcat that was attempting to have baby owl for dinner. Apparently, bobcats couldn't care less about laws protecting raptors.

Thanks for the comments everyone. They are appreciated.

I was about 30 yards from the babies and about 50 from the mama. Camera is 42 MP so heavy crop will hold a bit of detail.

Cool looking creatures. Reminds me when we found a few babies in a tower stand. I think they were as confused as we were when we saw them.

My parents have a nesting pair in their back yard here in The Woodlands. I told them they should feel honored.

I remember we battled them in stands if we even left the windows cracked open down in S. Texas.

That is pretty sweet and they don't put up with the crowd that the church puts up with due to the eagle's nest.

Very, cool, interesting backstory. Did a ranger see it happen?

Not sure. As many photogs that have been out there, I would guess some of them saw it but I haven't seen any pics if they took any. They are very close to fledging.

There’s one in my moms yard behind the barn that tries to kill small dogs and all the cats disappeared . The dog hides at night now
