My good friend added DEF into his diesel tank. He was spaced out as well he says (at the time going through a divorce) so he had good reason. He drove the truck without a hiccup for 20 miles. I went over and helped him drain the tank, put new filter in and never had a issue since. That was 3 years ago and 30,000 plus miles. Maybe he was a lucky one.

My wife done the same thing. Pumped 20 gal of gas in it while it was idling. She realized it when she hung up the gas pump. Reached in and killed the truck. Had it towed to dealer, they drained it cleaned it out, changed filters, hit me with about 5-600 bill, all good to go now..... I took the truck away from her....

You should be fine. It'll help keep your injectors clean. Keep filling that tank every chance you get to dilute it as quickly as possible.

              Oh look a fajita!!

I was a little worried this would happen when we bought my wifes TDI Passat. She was already used to driving the Diesel Excursion though. Never had an issue

For the life of me, I never understood why the nozzle shapes are not completely different in both size and overall shape. Like make a diesel receptacle oval shaped where at its narrowest a round pump for unleaded still couldn't fit. Then the oval diesel would also be too wide to fit in a round unleaded. Seems simple enough and would save some grief. Anytime a buddy borrow my truck I explicitly beg them to not do me a favor and fill it. Just to be safe

She realized what she did before it was started. Got put on a roll off to the shop. 3 years later it's all fine still

                          Completely Agree with you !!!

Oh, and not so much for me but my wife using my truck which doesn't happen often but worse is my 17 year old daughter and she has a gas card. I tell her every time do not fill up my truck unless you call me on the phone while your getting ready to fill it. Scares the heck out of me.

Call a friend of mine in Midlothian. He's a diesel mechanic. His name is Randy Blackwell 972-366-3326.He's one of the best.
By the way.If it was me I'd fill it with diesel, and drive off.

Do anything you want besides trying to start it !

You turn the key [emoji360] you will hear a big pop and a plume of smoke [emoji100], that's your engine giving up the ghost [emoji317].

Call AAA and tow it to the dealer. Put a sign on the steering wheel to not try to start and get it all drained and flushed out with diesel.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how someone could screw up diesel & gas.

Bottom line, if it costs me 1 penny more to have a different nozzle just because less than 1% of diesel owner accidentally fill up with gas, no thanks. That's the same logic people use to justify no casino's in Texas.
