I needed to cover some square tubing supports in the barndo I am building and decided to use an angle lock miter. Eight 2x8x16's were planed to about and inch.
I then ran them through a shaper with the angle lock cutter.
It cuts the board at a 45 degree and cuts a tongue and groove at the same time. It's a pretty strong joint when glued and nailed/screwed. Here is a close up pic of the joint.
I then glued and nailed two pieces together making four halves and stained them. The wife and myself assembled two halves over the square tubing. This was a tedious task as they are 13ft long and fairly heavy and needed clamping to nail in place.
They turned out pretty nice.
